What A Shoe Company Can Teach You About Life

Just Do It.

Ever heard that tagline before?

If you have been an athlete at one point in your life, are currently an athlete, or just like sneakers, you have probably heard that famous Nike line before.

Now I’m not writing this to talk you into buying a new pair of Nike sneakers, but I do want to bring your attention to something I feel holds more power and meaning than you may have thought it could before.

Nike represents high performance, hard work, commitment, and consistency, and I think this concept of “Just Do It” is a much more powerful statement than Nike might get credit for.

Everyday we make decisions of whether to do something or not, and all day long we make choices.

In those moments you put yourself through a mental tug of war trying to decide to do something, if it’s worth doing, or if you’re better off just forgetting about it entirely.

Too many people, myself included at times, come up with 1,000 reasons not to embark on something new.

Reasons like...

"I have never done this before."

"I won't be as good as I used to be."

"I am going to be terrible at this."

“I don’t think it’s worth it.”

But do you know what the only way to calm those nerves and anxieties are?

Just Do It.

You owe it to yourself to believe you can do it.

You owe it to the future to try and do it.

If you try, and it doesn't work out the way you want it to, then you can be proud and hold your head up high knowing that you gave it your best shot.

On the flip side, what if it does work out and you reach your goals?

What if you were able to fit back into your favorite clothes and feel incredible about yourself?

What if you were able to go for and get that promotion at work?

Just imagine how amazing it would feel to have accomplished those big goals, and that if you doubted yourself you would have never given yourself the chance to try.

So, take it from Nike, and Just Do It.

No matter what happens after, I can guarantee you will be glad you at least tried, and proud of yourself for doing so.

You can do it!
