How To Stop Procrastinating Your Fitness and Health

Procrastination is a word I heard a lot back in school.

My teachers, and parents told me I was a major procrasinator.

I would put off asignments and projects until the night before.

Which ultimately led me to cramming all my work in a short period of time.

Fast forward to now, I am trying to get a better grip on my own productivity.

As I continue to move through life, I find it easier and easier to put things off.

I am sure many of you can relate.

Procrastination shows up in many ways, often times without you even realizing it.

For example, you may be putting off that dinner with a friend.

You may be avoiding looking at your finances as you look to cut back on your spending.

In the world of fittnes, you might be procrastinating getting back in shape.

As a self admitted procrastinator, I started listening to an audiobook called "Immediate Action: A 7 - Day Plan To Overcome Procrastination and Regain Your Motivation."

One of the first things it mentioned was the importance of identifiying why it is that you procrastinate.

Here are some of the most common reasons why people procrastinate according to the author.

You lack clarity.

You are waiting for motivation to magically appear.

You are too distracted and unable to complete hard tasks.

You are afraid of not doing a good enough job.

You lack a defined deadline, and have no urgency.

You don't have a routine, system, or plan to follow to keep you on track.

Wanna know something wild about these?

These are similar reasons why people put off getting in shape.

People aren't clear on what they want, and how to accomplish it.

People get too distracted by fitness and nutrition trends that just add confusion.

People are concerned that they won't be able to reach their goals, so much so that they don't even start.

They have no deadline or urgency for when they want to lose that weight, or build that muscle.

People just try to wing it, and hope for the best.

If you have been putting off starting your fitness journey, you are not doomed.

This is the roadmap to follow to get you unstuck, and back on a path to help you reclaim your fitness.

Get clear on what you want.

Forget motivation, and start taking action and building discipline.

Focus on a few things you know you can accomplish, and do them as often as you can.

Don't compare yourslef to unrealistic expections. Focus on improving yourself at your pace on day at a time.

Create a deadline for yourself.

Build habits and routines that fit into your life.
